Message to the 19th President of Korea

Message to the 19th President of Korea

I would
like to congratulate Mr. Moon Jae-in, presidential candidate of the Democratic
Party, on his election as a new president of South Korea.

Over the
last few months, we have gone through a difficult time of national split
relating the impeachment of the former president Park Geun-hye. Finally, The
Constitutional Court of Korea decided the impeachment of former president Park
and the early presidential election was held on May 9, 2017 when Mr. Moon
Jae-in was elected as a new president of Korea.

Now we are
in urgent need of a credible leader who keeps principles and steps towards true
peace and justice beyond today’s conflicts and confrontations.

May the
new president be a great leader who can make democracy take root in this
country, and bring peace and prosperity to the Korean people.

I hope
that the new president will lead this nation to be one where in spirit of the
Constitution, the vulnerable and disadvantaged in the society can be treated
with human dignity and respect, where everyone enjoys the right to freedom of
thought and conscience, expressing and communicating one’s opinion without any
restriction. I would like him to promote balanced development of the nation,
and to appoint his staff in a fair and impartial manner so that all selected
competent persons may take part in the new government administration. We also
would like him to propose a clear vision and governmental management philosophy
for the future which can make all Korean people in the North and South Korea
reconciliate and coexist in peace.

I pray
President Moon may be a faithful servant working for all Korean people and
under him Korean people may live together in unity.

May the
day when justice shall surge like water and goodness like an unfailing stream
(Am 5,24) come near.

I would
like to extend our sincere congratulations to President Moon once again.
