New Bishop of the Military Ordinariate of Korea
On February 2, 2021, the Holy Father accepted the resignation of the Most Rev. Francis Xavier Yu Soo-il, O.F.M. from the pastoral care of the Military Ordinariate of Korea. Subsequently, Rev. Titus Seo Sang-Bum, a priest of the Archdiocese of Seoul, was appointed as the new Bishop of the Military Ordinariate of Korea.
Bishop-elect Titus Seo, born in 1961, was ordained a diocesan priest of Seoul on February 12, 1988. After ordination, he served as parish vicar in two parishes (1988-1990, 1990-1991 respectively). He served as military chaplain, (1991-2013) and as a representative of the diocesan Synod of Seoul (2001-2005). He was a member of the Presbyteral Council of Seoul (2005-2013) and acted as Vicar General of the Military Ordinariate of Korea (2013-2017). During this time, he was also a member of the Commission for Staff of the Archdiocese of Seoul (2015-2017). Since 2018, he has served as parish priest of Daechi-dong parish in Seoul.
